Investments

We are a privately capitalized, mission-driven impact fund investing in New York City-based for-profit and nonprofit enterprises.

The Fund deploys capital from New York’s business and investment community to advance New York City’s standing as a global center of economic opportunity, upward mobility, and innovation.

We make investments in two broad areas:

Expanding Opportunity

Investing in companies, nonprofits and public-private partnerships that provide job opportunities and needed services to individuals and disadvantaged neighborhoods in New York City.

New York Genome Center

Establishing New York as an international center for genomic research.

NYC Small Business Resource Network

Connecting the city's small businesses with personalized guidance and recovery resources in the wake of COVID-19.

Technology in the Public Interest

Investing in companies and programs that advance the application of new technologies to address urban challenges including helping government agencies deliver services more effectively. We look for solutions that:

Increase the resiliency and livability of New York City with a focus on low and moderate-income communities

Equip small neighborhood businesses to compete more successfully

Transform the delivery of essential services by city and state government

Improve the financial well-being and economic potential of underserved populations through debt reduction, financial literacy, and the ability to build wealth

Connect people to job training and employment opportunities

Kelvin

Bringing energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions to radiator-heated residential buildings.

Orijin

Supporting formerly incarcerated individuals with their re-entry into society through rehabilitative and educational programs.

We are flexible in how we structure our investments.

We see our role as filling gaps and solving problems. In addition to venture capital investments, the Fund can issue debt on market and concessionary terms. We structure our investments based on the need and the role of other investors.

We are an evergreen fund: realized gains are continually reinvested, as opposed to being returned to investors.

If your company has a strong business model that aligns with the Fund’s investment strategy, we want to hear from you.
